Another way in which you can get flexibility with your forms is through the use of the PDF Destination, which is available on our paid plans. With the PDF Destination, you can export your form and send it to the recipient in PDF format.
To do so, all you need to do is follow the simple steps outlined below:
Once you’ve saved your form and exited the designer, you will arrive back at the Forms page. Go to your "Forms" page and click the link in the destinations column of the form you would like to add the destination to.
Note: If there are no destinations added to your account, this button will read "0".
Now, once you’ve been taken to the Destinations page, you can click the “New Destination” button.
A new page will load, and on it you will see different destinations to send your data. In this example, "E-mail" has been selected. After selecting the destination, choose the "PDF" format.
You will also see an option to send your images to a service other than Device Magic. If you would like to do this, select from the services provided. Please note, choosing a service other than "None (inline)" will result in a hyperlink to the hosted image being placed in the file generated by this destination instead of the actual image.
If you like, you can add a Description in your "Destination Options" box, this is optional.
At this point, you will see "Adobe .pdf Options" beneath the chosen destination. Click "Show Options" to open up the Adobe .pdf options. It will look like this:
This section is where you can add a file name (not required), view the available placeholders (by clicking "Show me placeholders I can use in this file name"), and download a sample template (so you can see how your PDF form will look, and so you can see the available placeholders).
In addition to that, this is where you can upload your own customized Word Document template. Use the available placeholders for your form, design it according to how you want it to look when you receive it in PDF format, and upload it in the space provided. Beneath that section, you will get to your chosen destination's Configuration section. It will look something like this:
Fill in the e-mail addresses you want to send the PDF to.
In Step 7, you have the option to create Destination Rules on when you want the Destination to be active. To learn more about how Destination Rules work, visit our article here.
The final step is to click "Create Destination".
You will then be taken back to your Forms page, where you will see your new destination added to the list.
Lastly, upon submission of data, you will receive the PDF version of your form at the destination you selected. This completes our overview of adding the PDF destination.
